I just want to alert you to the dangers of turtle break-in. I understand the lonely sheep or cow wandering over to my farm…

but if I look in my fish tank and find a mysterious turtle…? All I have to say is “Where the FUCK did that turtle come from?!” You’d think I’d have noticed it coming into my house and then scaling my furniture to end up in my fish tank…

Stephen Jenkins is a sexy, sexy man.
Apparently, all of the music I’ve been missing all of my life has suddenly decided to find me. It began with the discovery of Great Northern through iTunes and continues with my newfound love for Third Eye Blind, who kicked off their new US tour at my school this past week. Before attending the concert, I was already familiar with their more popular songs such as “Jumper,” “Semi-Charmed Life,” “How’s It Going to Be,” and “Never Let You Go.” I had never given much thought to looking into the rest of their older stuff, though, or even to the fact that they were still around, which meant that I was totally floored by many of their great old songs and some brand new ones that they played at the concert. They were fantastic performers and I immediately downloaded a couple of their CD’s upon getting back to my apartment.

I’ve been trying to re-vamp my music collection over the past few months and came across a song by a band called Great Northern in my iTunes Genius recommended music. I was intrigued by the originally recommended song and proceeded to download a few of their tracks. Today, when one of these songs was playing in iTunes, I noticed (again in Genius) that they had recently released a new single, “Houses.” The single is excellent and it inspired me to download the remaining songs from their 2007 debut album, Trading Twilight for Daylight. If you are into alternative music with strong melodies and catchy choruses, it is definitely for you.
The male vocalist is Solon Bixler from the band 30 Seconds to Mars and the female vocalist is Rachel Dolte from Whirlpool. Each of them are featured individually in some songs, but they also sing together in others. The music is fantastic no matter who is singing. Essential downloads include “Houses” (from their upcoming CD Remind Me Where the Light Is releasing on April 28) and “Home”, “Into the Sun”, ”The Middle”, and “Low is a Height” from their debut.
I haven’t been this excited about a band for quite a while and I hope everyone checks them out!
